User Reviews
One of the hardest things when buying an item on line is being limited to seeing few pictures of the product and relatively small. You can visit many sites and find almost the same information but what really makes the difference are the comments from the "brave" that have purchased the product already.
This is my first review of a purchase on Amazon.com, I hope my review may help others in their quest for a good iPad Case.
I live outside the US and found myself viewing every type of case there is sleves, skins, leather, non lether, flip non flip you name it.
My first impulse was to buy the original Apple iPad case but reviews rated it as an overpriced and not so protective product. Yet the design itself seemed very functional. After some browising I came across the CaseCrown iPad Flip Case and saw it was very similar to the original iPad case. After reading reviews and some videos of "unboxings" on YouTube I found this to be a logical option and for half the price!
As a customer outside the US, the wait was even more stresful but it finally arrived. Below are my PROS and CONS for this product
PROS
- The case has a rubber-like finish which is great for grip, no worries youll drop your $400+ toy easily
- Resistan to sratches
- Easy to clean, no finger print mess
- Design very similar to the original iPad case but provides better protection to the iPad(i have not seen the original iPad case but it looks thin)
- The different ways to set up the case are great!
1. As a horizontal (landscape) stand, when using the iPad as a photo frame or as a screen when set up on the table ( I bought a bluetooth keyboard and the setup is almost as a desktop when you need to write a long email)
2 The flip option raises the ipad to a very comfortable position for typing on the virutal keyboard (less strain on your wrists) great when sufing the web, reading emails or having it on your lap to view a video etc.
3. It works as a "portrait" stand when put on a flat surface like a table, but dont see much use to this option
- The elastic band keeps the front flap closed.
- The protection for the back and sides of the ipad are great, without blocking any of the access ports or buttons.
- Very elegant and discrete looks
CONS
- Some of the cutoff edges for the access port and buttons dont match exactly but dont interfere with the operation.
- Would have been great if the inside had pockets for business cards
- Blocks the light sensor.
For me its an excellent case for the price.
-- An excellent case for the price
When I first got my iPad, I got the Apple case for it. I liked the way it folds into a stand to facilitate touch typing in horizontal mode. I didn't like the way the Apple case showed fingerprints, oil from your hands, etc. I was constantly having to rub at it really hard to keep it looking clean. It also started to tear after about 3 months of use.
I've had the CaseCrown case for a couple of weeks now and really like it. It is functionally the same as the Apple case, but the material used doesn't require me to clean it on a daily basis like the Apple case. In fact, I haven't had to clean it at all.
The material is a bit shinier than the Apple case, which was flat black rubber. The CaseCrown looks like the same ballistic nylon as my Tumi computer bag. The material of the case is a little bit more slippery than the Apple case/stand and intially, the edge of the case would tend to slide out the provided slot that holds it upright. I quickly found that if you just shove the edge of the case a little bit further into the provided slot, it stands up fine and stays there.
I would highly recommend this case, especially since it's 60% of the cost of the Apple case which didn't last me that long! -- Better than Apple Case in a couple of ways
The Casecrown case is so close to being the one. It is slim. It provides real protection for the corners of the iPad. It supports both a typing position as well as a more upright stand. In fact, it is very close to the Apple case in terms of awesome usability.
BUT... it blocks the ambient light sensor which causes the device to be too dim in my bright office. Sure I could turn off the auto light sensing, but I don't think any case is worth giving up such basic functionality. And after talking with Casecrown support they have no plans to change the design. Oh well... so close and yet so far. -- Almost Great - Blocks Light Sensor
I received this case yesterday, and so far am very pleased with the quality of the construction and materials that went into this case. I had been looking for a case similar in design to the Apple-produced case, but made with a material that wouldn't attract dust and lint like the Apple case is prone to. I had purchased another case with a similar design, but the quality of the materials and construction were not up to snuff. This one, however, meets and exceeds all expectations.
I like the overall look and feel of the case; I wasn't sure how I'd like the canvas as opposed to the 'leather-like' appearance of some other cases in this price range (most genuine leather cases cost much more), but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the material has a nice texture in both look and feel. The canvas material also seems quite durable, and should provide more than adequate protection from the rigors of daily use.
What I like most about this style case in general is the versatility of serving as a stand for typing. There are many other cases that also add this functionality, but most are either more expensive, or the ones in the same price range as this one tend to be flimsy at best. This is not the case with the CaseCrown Canvas Horizontal Flip case; the case is constructed such that the 'stand mode' is very sturdy, and I have no worries of it collapsing as I'm trying to type on my iPad. Again, this case shows superior construction for the price.
All in all, I am very satisfied with this case, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid, quality case on a budget. -- Great case for the money
This is the first time I've written a review, but am so disappointed in this product that I thought that writing might stop someone else from making the same mistake I made. First of all, I ordered this case over a month ago - and had no delayed-shipment correspondence from the shipper until I started making a fuss. I was so anxious for it to arrive - I've been worried about dropping my IPad - but now that it's here, the feature I wanted most is the most disappointing! The flip-stand has no cardboard insert to keep it strong and standing upright, so as soon as I lay the IPad down, the flip-stand collapses! Instead of standing tall like a nice, straight I (as in the picture), it looks more like a C! There is no support! The functionality of the case as a protection for the IPad is fine; that's why I gave it a 2-star rating. I'm hesitant to return the case because considering the shipping service I received, I'm skeptical about whether or not I'll ever see a refund. How sad to wait so long for a product only to be disappointed! -- How disappointing!
